gas odor
I wonder if someone has dealt with this problem. I have a 1964 C-10. The fuel tank is behind the seat. There is a gas odor in the cab and no leak is showing. The carb is also not leaking. Anyone have ideas on what I should check first, second, etc. ? Thanks. Scott

Re: gas odor
Check the rubber hose in between the fuel tank and the filler neck- they have a tendency to dry out and crack.

Re: gas odor
And it is such a fun job too. They gave plenty of room to get lots of tools in. I almost think its easier to remove the tank to replace the filler hose than install in cab.

Re: gas odor
Thanks Tincan1966. That must be it cause the tank sending unit has a new gasket and shows no signs of leakage.
Thanks 1963C-10 for the heads up on the job difficulty. Not looking forward to it but it has to be done. Scott |

Re: gas odor
Filler cap seal, if it leaks when you`re making a right turn, it will seep out and past the outer body seal tube ring and back down in the cab is also a possibility.
