Automatic transmisison & manual transmission crossmember

Good evening folks, from San Diego:
At first my truck used to have manual transmission and then I swaped a 700r4.
The truck still having installed the original crossmember for manual trany, but I can not install the converter cover, is there any diference betwen auto & manual crossmembers?
I was thinking about take it out, installing the cover, and then reinstal the crossmember.

I'm assuming you have an actual trans crossmember that the tranny is mounted to. That replaces the original bellhousing manual trans crossmember. Cut out the rivets and get rid of it. I'm putting an LS in my '68 and that's what I'm doing.

you need to get the rear crossmember for that 700r4 and then cut that one out...its no longer needed.

I just did this to mine a week ago...now i need headers and my driveshaft is to short,

I don't know if you say about this crosmember.
But, can the frame safe if I cut the front crosmember?

And also I want to install headers and I think this crossmember is on the way of the headers.

That's the crossmember that supports the trans. Keep it and get rid of the one that's under the bellhousing.

It really is that simple.
The manual transmission trucks used a crossmember under the engine mounts and another at the clutch bellhousing. This provided a strong stable four point mount system.
Automatic trucks (4x2) used a crossmember under the engine mounts and another at the rear of the transmission under the extension housing. These vehicles had a three point mount system.

To convert it you will probably want to remove the crossmember. As the rivets are difficult to remove and more so with a cab in place many people simply cut the crossmember out at the frame rails.

In any event you will want to use the complete factory style automatic crossmember for best results.
