question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
bought one today but the guy had to cut the brackets from the lower control arm, so I need new bushings and the "C" shaped metal brackets that the bushings fit into.. I measured the bar ends with a caliper and it's 1 1/16" diameter. Does this sounds like a factory size that I can find replacement parts for or is it most likely aftermarket/from another car?

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
I pulled that exact same bar froma 85 'burb a couple days ago. The c shaped peices are the same for all sway bars, but the bushings are different for different sized bars.

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
didn't think about LMC for some reason before but I just looked there and it appears that 1 1/16" is stock... $40 for the 2 brackets and bushings. Anyone have or know where I can get them cheaper?

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
40.00 is a good price for these. Why would you want to go cheaper? I bought my swaybar off of ebay for 20.00. Had to sandblast it, prime it and paint it.ALso had to buy new frame brackets and all new bushings.By the time i was done i was around 80.00 for everything but it will be well worth it once the truck is on the road:

Hey that bar looks great. My roll pan is way in the way. Do you know if the front frame crossmember rivit is the one you take out? Put a bolt throught both the crossmember and the sway bar bracket. ?

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
Word to the wise. Don't buy polyurethane bushings (the red ones) for it. I cannot comment or speculate on polygraphite bushings but the red poly bushings squeak like crap EVEN after greasing them up well

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
Read the sway bar FAQ if you have questions. I put the factory GM part number in there for the brackets and also detail the installation including the rivet issue.

If you are having trouble with the squeaks, I use green grease on my sway bar poly bushings on my G8. That takes care of any squeaking from the bushings. |

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
Red ones that don't squeak? What the heck. I've got the greasable ones and I've greased the snot outta them with marine grease (so water puddles don't wash away the grease) and they still squeak like no other. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong then.

I got lucky, a guy local to me was parting out a C10, and he was very careful to just torch off the rivets, the bushings were even still good so my total investment was $30 plus $5 for bolts. |

Re: question about front anti-sway bar from 73 c10
You can forget the frame brackets and bolt the bushing/bracket directly to the frame.
Did this on my static dropped 74 C10 with 1.25 bar W/poly bushings. Never had a problem and adds ground clearance

Would a swaybar off of a 3/4 ton van work?? Found one today at the bone yard.
