Replacement drive shaft, Trying to cure vibration

I have been chasing down a vibration since a rear gear change from 2.56 to 3.73. Thinking it might be the driveshaft or ujoints, I went to my friends junkyard looking for a replacement. They had several 3.66" aluminum drive shafts off of crown vic police interceptors. It measured exactly the same as mine from center of the joint to center of the joint (55.5). Some conversion ujoints from NAPA, and it went in perfectly.

It helped a lot but I still have a vibration from about 55-62mph..I think what's left is probably from the 15 year old tires.

Anything else I should be looking for???

Came across a similar problem years back, suggestion was made to orientate the zirk fittings on opposite ends of the yokes. One was turned right, other was turned left. Solved problem

Old school mechanic told me this was tuning the driveline.. ?

Jeez...I didn't think of that..They might be lined up, but I don't know. Since they are conversion joints I guess I had a 50/50 chance of getting them right.

Take a look at this.

The last several pages are the thought process used to separate, identify and repair a vehicle vibration.

Jesus, I am working on solving this same vibration too. Makes me want to tear the truck down like a mad man.

If you follow the logic tree in the link I posted you can fix anything quickly and without guessing.

It's all about separating the wheat (the true root causes) from the chaff (the stuff you don't care about).
