Automatic steering column gear indicator

The only gear indicator lens that GM made was for a Powerglide, so what lens have you guys used when you're running a 700r4? I've seen the ones that GM used in the late '80s, but the font on the letters does not match the gauge font.

I want to replace my Powerglide lens with one that works with a 700r4. I would like for it to fit inside my stock chrome bezel.

Any suggestions?

Re: Automatic steering column gear indicator

Here you go.

These guys have both shift indicator lens in reproduction 3 speed auto # S138 and the OD shifter lens #S139 for the original 60-66 truck applications. (These are the same as the early mid 60's Novas and 61-64 Impalas.

Re: Automatic steering column gear indicator

What Hot fun said! I did it and it will need just a tad bit of adjustment on the lens.

Thanks, Hotfun!
That's exactly what I was looking for! I forgot all about Shiftworks. Those guys have been making stuff like that for overdrive transmission upgrades since the early '80s when the 200r4 and 700r4 were just coming out.

Subscribing for future reference. Was just thinking about this the other day, remembering that I had seen it discussed before.

Re: Automatic steering column gear indicator

So glad I found this thread, I have a 66 that will be getting a swap from a powerglide to a 700r4. The shop that is doing the work for me said they would have everything covered in the price they gave me...but I am pretty sure this detail has been overlooked.

What will I need to provide the shop to get this done?

Is it the shift arm connection kit #KK02
and the column lens indicator #S139 ?
