I was thinking one large turbo would be easier to set up and maintain. The T-4 is sized right and one of the most common. The FI system is another thing. I'd love to have one, problem is, even picking up a used one is expensive and chances are the injectors would be too small, pressure regulator would be shot, the computer and wiring would be a pain, hek, the turbo would be the easy part. It's all mechanical.

While I idle away the days waiting for my higher priority things to magically complete themselves, I'll dream of my twin turbo'd, overdriven, fat tired, nicely finished truck. I can almost see it sitting there in my heated, insulated garage, the lights reflecting off its new paint and polished wheels. It's full of high octane gas, the weather looks great for a cruise and my wife will still talk to me or at least take my calls after it's all said and done.

Thanks everyone for the input.

FWIW, you don't need or want a huge turbo for a street application. The steep torque convertor needed to keep it in boost will be just about undrivable on the street. Get yourself a nice medium sized turbo, intercool it, and spool it up!
If you're building a race truck, then forget what I just said.

Thats why I recommended twin turbos, they are actually easier to set up on an engine with 2 cylinder banks. Two smaller turbos is the best for the street, because you'll have off the line boost plus high rpm CFM from the twins. If you have to use carb a draw-through style is the best for turbo though.

I was actually going to go with 2 T-3 turbos. I had one, but needed money so I sold it. But get this, I bought it off ebay for $71 shipped to my door. Sold it to a guy in Canada for $152.50 american without shipping. I had it for one week, and did nothing to it. Talk about a kick a$$ turnaround!!!

I still am thinking about twins, but that is so far in the future I can't even see it now.

Thanks again for all the opinions and info. I'll keep researching, I like the whole idea of it. Instead of the high stall auto, I might look at going back to a manual tranny. A stout 5 or 6 speed. Thats one sure way to spool those babies up.

And how 'bout a nitros kicker, just to make sure theres plenty of Oxygen. Dam, those fuel injectors would have to really spray! I wonder if there are titanium pistons out there yet? And rods, and blocks, etc...

for race aps... people are using a two head system one in the intercooler and on before the turbo, small shots to keep turbo lag to a minimal.

Sorry this doesn't have too much to do with your own project but had to share. This picture is of the twin turbo racecar that I work on everyday. It's the AEM drag civic, PRO RWD. It's a 3 liter(180ci) V6 NSX in a rear-wheel-drive honda civic body. It's pumping out over 1600 hp on methanol. It runs a best of 6.71 at 207.8 mph. I could give you tips on a fuel injected setup but don't know about carbureter setups for turbos.

Good luck. Hopefully this is some inspiration.

PS. Don't knock all rice burners.
PSS. you can see one of the turbos right behind the front tire.
