Glad I found this forum

I am a professional auto detailer and had a 2009 Ram that I kept the paint flawless on. However, people with classic show cars didn't see it as a show truck. It looked like I had just bought it new. So I sold it and bought a 1969 C10 2wd short bed step side. It has a 396 w/turbo 400. My first truck was a 69 C10 LWB so I know my way around them.

I'm gonna have lots of questions though. It has been switched to 5 lug and disc brakes on the front. I've never messed with lowering kits. Right now the truck sits over an inch lower on the driver's side. The front is 1-1/4" and the rear is over 1-1/2". It has some kind of kit on it but I have no idea on how to get it level. If I have to I'll buy a whole new kit including drop spindles. The bed also slopes down to the driver's side front corner.

Anyway, if anyone has questions on detailing feel free to ask.

Here is a link to the video of the truck when it was delivered.

Here are a couple of pics of my new ride.

Nice truck!!Level may be hard to attain. There are tons of things that could throw it off.I would start by doing a thorough inspection of Body mounts, bushings, front suspension components and body alignment. There is so much slack in the factory specs that it could be off half that when new,but defining where the off is will get you a start.

Wow that interior is fine. I'm not usually a fan of non-stock looks but that looks like you could just set back and cruise for hours.

Too bad you're not closer - if you could get my old beater to shine like that, I'd pay good money! LOL

Welcome and good luck with your truck!

Also welcome from central Florida. If you want to figure it out start by unbolting all the shocks at the bottom, this will let you see if its a spring problem. Bounce it around a bit and let it settle then put a tape on it.
If the front springs are new check to make sure they are seated in the upper a-arms correctly.

Thanks! I would've built one but for the money it's better to buy them already built. I think everyone here knows that though.

Thanks! From what others have said, they are out of a 2005 Chevy.

Thanks a ton for the info! As for all the body bushings, everything on the truck is new as of 2009. I've checked the two in front and they appear to be the same. Gonna get it up on some stands tomorrow and see if I can figure out what is going on.

I'm not a fan of bench seats so this was a win win for me. I haven't touched this with a polisher yet. When I get done it'll look like glass. I'd post a link to my website but I don't want to break any rules.

I don't remember my first 69 being this way. Of course that was 20+ years ago. Man I'm getting old.

Thanks! When I sold my Ram, I told my wife that I've never been in the situation to buy what I wanted. I can't wait to get some of the bugs worked out of it so I can hit the shows.

Thanks! Awesome info. I'll be doing that first thing in the morning.

Here's a couple of pics of cars I have polished.

Re: Glad I found this forum

Sup buddy! Welcome from SE TN. You definitely have some skills!

I'm pretty sure what you're seeing is the infamous Chevy Lean. 85-90% of the trucks I have ever seen and/or lowered have experienced it. Pretty common thing actually.

BUT -- one thing you might check is the way the front coil springs are seated into the lower control arms. If the truck has been lowered, there is a small indention in the lower control arm (there will be a tiny hole, it's there for a drain hole) the end of the coil spring needs to index into that pocket.

Lets say it's correct on the drivers side but incorrect on the pass side (?) Maybe .. ? That would cause the difference you're describing. There's a good 1/2 turn in that coil spring and it may just be sitting a little high on the pass side if it's not down into that index properly. Can you pull some measurements for us from the center of the fender well arch to the ground on all 4 corners? Maybe take a few more pictures of it? We LOVE pictures.
