water pump acting up... short or long pump??
I got some problems with my water pump last night and went on summit to check around at pumps... seems there is a short pump and a long pump?
How do I check to see which one I have? Don't want to order the wrong one. Thanks for the help! Its a 454 ci. Also any recommendations on a good pump??

I really like Edelbrock's aluminum water pumps.
They helped me cure a "hot running truck" years ago,... and I will now use them, exclusively.

No matter how hard you try,... you will have anti-freeze on the ground. Take your time and just remove and replace. And remember the trucks with a serpentine belt drive set-up, usually run a reverse rotation water pump. I couldn't remember what you have for your accessory drive.

When I change water pumps I usually replace the thermostat and check the hoses real good.
If you change the thermostat drill an 1/8" hole it, it will allow the thermostat to open easier because the pressure will be equal on both sides.
