Removing 72 dash bezel plate
I unscrewed the 6 screws around the circumference of the face. What else do I have to do. Looks like the whole instrument cluster wants to come out with it as well. Is there a way to just take off the face plate without pulling out everything?

Re: Removing 72 dash bezel plate
You need to pull the entire cluster. Remove the oil pressure line (5/16) unplug the cluster, and unscrew the speedo cable. It also helps to drop the steering column.

Re: Removing 72 dash bezel plate
There is also going to be a button on top of the headlight switch. You have to reach your hand up behind the dash and feel for the button. Push it and pull the headlights knob out the whole shaft should come out. Some time you have to give it a little wiggle but don't yard on it...

Re: Removing 72 dash bezel plate
The wiper knob needs to come off along with the headlight knob/shaft, then the bezels behind those knobs need to come off, then out it comes. If you have a tach, the column must come down, but if no tach you can work around it. The metal tins that hold all the gauges are screwed into the bezel from the rear, so you will need to remove the entire gauge cluster with it, then remove just the bezel once all of it is out.

Re: Removing 72 dash bezel plate
Be sure to disconnect the battery first. When u pull out the headlight switch shaft, it will keep your headlights on unless you put it back in. And as Zepp says u might have to drop the column out of the way. It's all easy to do. Just a bunch of steps is all.

Re: Removing 72 dash bezel plate
Just did this on mine for the first time. Was surprised its not to hard to do. I replaced the lens and printed circuit. If your dash pad needs replaced or your going to later down the road now would be a good time to do it.
