On the rivets, if you have a grinder then use a cut-off wheel and cut an "X" in the head first. The perfect way to remove them after that is with an air chisel, then punch the shank through. If you do not have air, a chisel and sledge will get the job done. You can also just grind, which is much easier after the "X" is cut. Just grinding itself will work but it's tedious!
