Covering a wheel
I restored the 67 Chevelle wheel back around Christmas of last year. I have been driving the truck with it and fixing to drive the 2800 miles round trip to Texas and back for the 2013 Hot Rod Pour Tour. I had corpal tunnel surgery in both my hands several years ago so grasping the small diameter wheel was pretty hard after a while. So I started looking for a nice leather wrap cover. I found these guy's on line and ordered the cover.
www.leatherseats.com I used pipe insulation from Lowes to get the padding thickness then measured it and they sent me the cover. You have to thread it yourself. It's a nice wrap and it's only $65.00 shiped. I think I will be fine now on the long haul.

Re: Covering a wheel
That should be comfortable! It's funny,on my Harley I was running comfort grips but they bothered my hands so I went back to the smaller OEM size. I guess it's about what our hands have done to make a living all these years...or something like that

Re: Covering a wheel
That looks like it worked out nice.
NAPA carries a large diameter laced cover if someone wanted a softer feel with out the thickness of the insulation you've added. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Covering a wheel
It took me a couple of tries. When stiching it you have to pull it straight back are it will get off. I learned that about 1/4 of the way around it. Thanks I think it turned out great. I have another wheel to do sometime and will do it also.

Re: Covering a wheel
Thanks. yea it looks right at home in the truck. I got a corvair wheel from 68corvair here on the board. I need to get it done. Then I'll have choices to make.
