I'm sorry, I need carb help.
I have been googling and reading and pouring over pictures of quadrajets, still can't find an answer.
For reference, my carb is stamped: 17083293 2372 FKK I am trying to adjust the choke and idle settings. Additionally I would like to know if the choke linkage is assembled properly. Recently, someone I know who has experience rebuilding quadrajets, walked me through disassembling mine and putting a rebuild kit in it. When it was all said and done the choke hasn't worked properly and when I asked if the linkage was correct I got an "I think so." ...awesome... Any help would be appreciated. I had stumbled across a really good rebuild/adjust thread a couple months ago and now I cannot find it. Thank you in advance... Running video: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/83gm...806cf.mp4.html P.S. I DO NOT want to hear "quadrajunk, quadrapuke, pitch it, edelbrock, holley, etc..." I am (generally) very pleased with the design and function of a quadrajet.

Re: I'm sorry, I need carb help.
I see your missing some parts on your choke. Choke pull off and secondary damper.
Maybe take a pic of the choke side instead of a video. Couple links for you. http://www.vetteprojects.com/kstyer/quadrajet.htm http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...#Trouble_spots |

Re: I'm sorry, I need carb help.
One quick thing to check. In pic #3, the blurry rod should have a flat link on the other end. That link should have a rod through it from the large silver, black capped heat stove with the wire. That linkage can be tricky to get properly connected. If it is properly connected, you should be able to easily move the choke flapper and have it return to its original position. You can look down that little slot and see it all move.

Re: I'm sorry, I need carb help.
I updated the picture post to a link for my album on photobucket. Sorry about the oversized pics on here.
Dead Parrot, the blurry rod you speak of, are you talking about the vertical one connected to the choke flap? I will check it out after class this afternoon, will get back to you. geezer, to my knowledge, this carb has never had a choke pull-off. Example of the secondary damper you speak of?

Re: I'm sorry, I need carb help.
The choke pull off and secondary damper pull off are on the same pot on your carb. You're missing the link from the pot to the choke.
In the second link I gave you, down near the bottom of the page , there is a pic titled secondary airvalve showing the position of the airvalve adjustment screw. They use a red arrowpointed at the screw. At the other end of that arrow (bottom end) you'll see another link that's bent many times and runs in behind the black choke cap. That's the one you're missing. I see the black cap still has 3 rivets holding it in place. Can you rotate the black cap easily? |

No, the cap on my choke does not rotate easily. Actually the bottom hole is missing it's screw and retainer. Loosened it to try and adjust choke, couldn't, forgot to tighten and it disappeared. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: I'm sorry, I need carb help.
You can drill out the other 2 rivets and replace all 3 with tiny sheet metal screws. Keep the little spreader bars though. THey hold the cap in place.
