My "other" Turd!

Here's my '01....this truck is the reason I got the '86 to Daily.....

2001 silverado LT Z-71...dropped, shaved, painted up and all that jazz. Colormatched EVERYTHING. painted and detailed under hood. Dash painted to match. Blue LED dash lights. 22" wheels, working 4x4, stainless steel LT headers, full 3" dual exhaust, custom tune, ported and polished throttle body, ls1 e-fans, and a little bit more. HID's, LED's, I have 2 ls1's in the garage, one is a longblock and is almost ready to drop in, the other a shortblock.

Whadya think?

What I started with

engine before:

When I was cleaning the engine bay for paint

The ls1

Re: My "other" Turd!

Looks awesome... That must have been a pile of work color-matching everything that you did. Great job.

Re: My "other" Turd!

It's like two different trucks. I've wondered if a 4by could be lowered and still functional. Looks good.

You have really nice turds. My turds actually look like crap

Awesome, very awesome. That's how GM's AWD SS truck should have looked...

Looks great! I didn’t realize one could get a GMT800 4x4 lowered to look that good. Yours just looks "right". I love it!

I love your attention to detail too. Good job!

Re: My "other" Turd!

My 2000 GMC is not lifted as far as I can tell but it does have 285/75/16 rubber on it and no rubbing issues.

Re: My "other" Turd!

Here was the truck before I lowered it, bout 2 years after I got it. 285/75/16 mudders with no issues.

The date on the pic is wrong...

Re: My "other" Turd!

How much did you drop it? I've seen 3/4 kits and I've thought of dropping my tahoe. Also what size are the tires? Looks to be 265/35/22, I have 305/40/22's and I'm not sure if a drop would cause issues or not.

How did you get that much drop? I thought it looked pretty low, I didn't think you could drop it that much with 4wd still intact.

For the front:

Purple keys (come off the 2500 truck) to lower 2" from dealership
3" lowering Lower control arms from DJM
1" decrank on the keys

For a total of 6" in the front.

In the rear:

Removal of factory 2" blocks
2" drop shackles
2" drop hangers
removal of overload spring for another 1"

For a total of 7"

Thanks for the specs. I forgot about the trucks having leaves, I was thinking about how my tahoe has coils. On mine I'm not sure if I could drop the rear that much. Your drop looks killer, but IF I decide to drop my hoe I think I'll go a little less extreme.

Re: lowered 4 wdrives

Since the topic of lowered 4wd comes up now and then I am bumping this one to the top. Too bad 1low4x4's account is suspended.
DJM Suspension has the parts to get them down while maintaining ride and alignment.
