ram horn exhaust????

I was just wondering which style of ram horns fit our style two wheel drive trucks best. I'm tired of messing around with headers. How many styles are there?? I have a two wheel drive with a 350 engine. Thanks

From the factory, every C10 i have seen has had 2" ramshorns that angle back towards the cab when they end.

You could dump the manifolds and get a set of headers

You can pick up a set of brand new ram horn's from your local dealer. I think they were about 85 a piece last time I ordered a set..

2wd trucks came with the Ram Horns that angle back. 4wd trucks came with the ones that exit straight down.

What kind of problems did you have. I got dyno-max ceramic coated headers on my 2wd with a 350. The exhaust pipes run up and over the crossmember. Works fine no problems yet.

I was curious about how much the local GM dealer was selling them for. Got quoted $437 (Cdn) EACH!

Two options for new.

1) GM Performance Parts sells the vette ramshorns 2 1/2 inch for about 80 each.

2) the truck ones are WAY higher. My neighbor is a GM parts guy. His cost (what the dealer actually pays) is right at 150 each for the truck ramshorn.

I had to replace a cracked one. Had to pay about $90 or so for one, but it had theaded air holes for a smog pump. Had to buy some stoopid looking brass plugs for it.

Why are the 2wd ramhorns curved and would the straight ramhorns work with 2wd's?

2.5 vette ramhorns

I have read posts before about these units. They are straight dump and work on 4x4's. Anyone using on 2 wheel drive trucks? Exactly what cut needs to be made on drivers manifold to cut off Alt. boss? Are there any other interference problems with stock bracketry or direct bolton in 4x4? Who has part numbers and vendor info? Is there a left and right one or are they the same?

Hope I'm not pirating this post but adding to it.

The only problem with headers are the with gaskets that blow out. I just picked up a truck and there is no motor or tranny and I plan on using it as my daily driver. I want to put it on the road by springtime and not have to mess with it after that . My other truck has a built 454 and thats my toy. This one will be my transportation. I'm ordering a plain old stock crate goodwrench 350 fot it. Do headers really make much difference on a stock engine?

I'm straight

...not that I have to affirm my.... oh never mind.

I have the ramhorns that dump straight down on my 2wd 68. I got them cermachromed (ceramic coating that looks almost like chrome but doesn't turn blue).

A new one in Wichita was $169. I found a used one in great condition for $50 and then had to have the studs chaged out $35.
So $85 for a new one would be a great deal.

I've got a brand new GM NOS right side manifold I tried to sell on the parts board. The deaership my neighbor works at pays about 150 their cost for a manifold. I tried to sell it on the board for 100 with no takers. Still has the tags on it. I guess there is still a ready enough supply of used ones.

Ive got some 2wd ramhorns for sale right now, they would fit your truck. I just pulled them from my daily driver, worked perfect, no leaks.

I got a set of the ramhorns that go straight down all the studs are there. I got headers and took em off. I'm in eastern NC couple hours southeast of raleigh if you want anymore info hit me up. They came off a 71 with a 350 and automatic tranny on the column. I'd be willing to part with em for $75 but very willing to negotiate

Here are some observations of mine: 67 and some 68 trucks had straight dump manifolds. 69-72 had angled manifolds. The 4x4 all had straight dumps. Someone building a truck can use the mounts in the 6 cylinder location. This gains quite a bit of clearance to the steering, frame, and crossmember allowing straight dump 'vette manifolds to be used easeir.

Another solution to leaky headers, EXPENSIVE gaskets. Use the Mr.G ultraseal or FelPro gaskets that have screen wire sandwiched in between the two halfs. COmbine those with header bolts using lock washers and you should get 7-10 years from a set of gaskets. My last set of gaskets lasted longer than the steel flange on the collector.

I replaced my Heddmans with 'vette manifolds and could not be happier.

I put the center straight dump ones from a 4x4 on mine just to make sure my exhaust will clear my clutch linkages.
