Is there a thread for accessories?

Did a quick search. Nothing popped up. Wanting to know what cool/rare accessories were offered back in the day!

Thanks!

Re: Is there a thread for accessories?

Some accessories are year and model specific. Not all were advertised or offered each year. Some accessories changed design though they look similar.

Re: Is there a thread for accessories?

Thats perfect! Thank you!

As I suspected, the trucks were treated as trucks. Most of the shiny pieces were for the cars.

Re: Is there a thread for accessories?

There are plenty of shiny pieces for the trucks.....bed rails, spotlights, cab trim, bumpers & bumper guards, grills, grill guards, the entire deluxe package is stainless steel trim, hubcaps, trim rings....etc

Re: Is there a thread for accessories?

My 64 "Brutus" happens to be a full custom model. It even has the two tone interior, comfort seat option (red seat) and deluxe horn ringed steering wheel. Wasn't sure if the were any offerings like gravel guards and such.

I come from the VW world were I got a little spoiled with all the "goodies" one can get. LOL

Re: Is there a thread for accessories?

There were factory gravel guards, what are referred as gravel guards for these years c-10's and apaches vary from most though. They are found over the rear bumpers on fleetside/stepside trucks. They stop rocks from being thrown over the bumper brackets. The stepsides also had a gravel guard the covered the lower cab corner on the rear of the cabs to keep rocks from being thrown up into the stepside fenders. They also had "mud flaps", which is proabably what your referring to. My truck had them originally, and traces can still be seen on my truck, as well as the support bars that mounted behind them to hold them rigid. Im not sure if they were factory or dealer add-on, but they are not seen very often. As far as options, they are out there. My truck was just a plain jane work truck. Have since added only OEM/NOS accessories and now have the 63 deluxe aluminum grill, 2 visors, clock, dual door locks, glovebox light and lock, glovebox emblem, windshield trim, GMC door window trim, factory guages, vacuum guage, factory tach, spotlight, tow hooks (front & rear), radio, pull vents, accessory wiper bottle, washer system w/2sp motor, back of cab trim & sail panels. Just have to look, but parts are available. Some have taken longer than others to find, and some have taken longer than others to rebuild and install.

Thanks for the heads up and inspiration. Let the hunting begin!

Were there ever door handle scratch guards offered?
