Installing sensors on new motor, do i need to use thread sealant on everything?
Okay, i am installing a new motor into my 87. I have 3 temp sending units (2 were stock and 1 is an add on for my electric fans), the knock sensor, and 2 fittings for 2 oil sending units (one installing on top by the distributor and one by the oil filter). Just curious if i need to use thread sealant on all of these when i install them? 2 of the temp sending units mount into the heads and the other mounts on the intake manifold. Knock sensor obviously in the block. Was just curious what everybody used to make sure you got a good seal and avoided leaks.

Those are all pipe threads, which need sealant. I have tried different stuff but found Teflon paste sealant to work best. I buy it at Home Depot in the plumbing section. It comes in a tube like toothpaste.

Wont interfere with grounding or cause grounding issues? I will stop by and try to find some at home depot. Thanks for the help!

The threads will connect tightly enough to act as a proper electrical ground. Don't sweat it, I've used the stuff for years.

Man I am trying. Lol. Just been one thing after the other that keeps kicking it down the road. I am finally there though I think. Plan is to put it back in this week. Hope to fire it up next weekend. Here is how it sits right now.

It's a custom 383 motor and basically an overhauled 700r4 monster transmission. A local shop did the build though and I provided the parts.
