the 350 swap question.. again..
I have a 1963 c-10 with a 292 and am getting ready to swap in a 350. I've searched high and low on this board and others and read a bunch of info. I'm still a little confused..
I understand that the passenger side motor mounting is different on the 292's vs the 230, 250, etc.. What I am unclear on is what needs to be changed on the passenger side? The rubber mount? The bracket that bolts to the engine? Or the tower itself (the part that bolts from the frame to the crossmember, that the rest of the mounting attaches to)? Maybe I'm confused because I have the terms mixed up.. Hopefully that was clear, any help would be great.

It's the part you're calling the "tower"... On the other 6s and the V8s the two towers are identical (at least to my eye).

Re: the 350 swap question.. again..
I haven't done a 6 to v8 swap, but I just got done doing an engine and suspension swap on my truck, and I'm almost positive that they look nearly identical, but there is a left side and right side tower - so make sure you get the correct side when you are out looking for parts.

Re: the 350 swap question.. again..
The 292 Passenger side tower is different from the 230/250/V8 tower. it is due to the location of the fuel pump and motor mount design on the 292- it is exclusive.
All you need is the passenger side tower from a 230/250 or V8 truck and you're good to go. PM me if you need a set. I have several. |
