Need some guidance...

Hey y'all,

I currently have a trashed GMC 228 but the tranny still shifts. I have recently found a running 216 with bell housing, and my question is, Do I really need to get the bell housing with the 216 or can I possibly use the one I have? I'm still new to this stuff and I don't really have a clue, but I'm learning more and more everyday(mostly from this awesome site)!!!

Tell me what you know...and go!

If it doesn't cost anything, I'd go take the bell housing-just in case

Re: Need some guidance...

You will need the clutch , flywheel and pressure plate from the 216 so I would get the bell as well.

I agree on the flywheel, pressure plate and clutch (they are different) but the bell housings are the same.
I took a 228 out of my 53 Sub and put in a 62 235 that ended up being crap but I used the GMC bellhousing because the 235 had a 3 spd car bell on it.
