Quality radiator recommendation
hey guys,
I need a radiator for my truck, was looking at the be cool radiators, but they cost a lot of $$'s I have an Oldsmobile 455 in my truck, and a TH400. Are there any other quality radiators out there that have large cores that will handle higher horsepower engine cooling? Any shroud/fan combo's appreciated as well. pics if possible.... kind regards

Re: Quality radiator recommendation
ebay, i use champion radiator. I have a 3 core aluminum radiator with dual 14" electric fans and aluminum fan shroud. $389 with free shipping. only problem is that it is an inch taller than our radiators. I ended using a set of small block upper radiator mounts from a 72 C10. I don't know if this will clear a stock hood, as i am not running a hood with my blower.

Re: Quality radiator recommendation
Many radiators today are made in China. Such as Champion. Some guys have no issues with them and others have had problems. So take that for what it's worth. If you want to get one made in the USA there's Griffin,PWR, Ron Davis, Rodney Red, Entropy....etc. As far as cooling fans much has been written about the use of 2 speed Taurus/Thunderbird and Lincoln Mark VIII fans being adapted for cars and trucks. You'll need relays and controller and Hollister Road is one place to find them. HR has done testing on their stuff on 67-72 trucks and have tech articles on the website. Good luck.

Re: Quality radiator recommendation
other than it is too tall.. the factory L bracket thingy doesnt fit at all.. I will post pictures of my new setup later tonight. My work computer sucks. The rest of it seems good, the fans move some serious air...
and RCRAHN is right, they are chinese made radiators, but if this one ever fails me i will probably upgrade to a nice high quality one. |
