Help me decide!!!! 2.5/4 drop or stick with stock height??
I am currently torn on what to do for ride height. The truck currently has 31" tires at stock height. It's a 2wd so a lift kit is too much fab work and effort. The truck is going to have a 383/700r4 combo.
I am really on the fence on lowering for better handling or maintaining the taller height with the tall tires. Help me out with opinions! 2.5/4 would definitely be the lowest I would want to lower. Posted via Mobile Device |

Its really your choice, what do you want the truck to look like?
I like 4/6 on a swb, 2.5/4 on a lwb but that's just my preference. 31in tires(all terrains?) are really too big on a lowered truck.

Yep. 31's would definitely be too big. If lowered I would change to 29" tires. Tires right now are almost shot and will need replacing soon. Kind of why I am pressing for an end state now. Only want to buy tires once. Lol.
Really am on the fence on which I like better. The improved handling from lowering is really my biggest draw towards lowering. I do like the lowered stance but the handling improvement is what would sway me. Posted via Mobile Device |

I'd lower it a little and put a sway bar on the front. That should make it more fun to drive with all the new hp.

I will work on getting some pictures up. I have been so focused on working on it i havent taken many pictures of the exterior. Have a ton of the engine bay for the motor swap. LOL
John, it actually has a stock sway bar in the front now. I was surprised. I was planning on adding one until i got under and looked. Sure enough, already there. Its the smaller bar of course but i wasnt sure if there was much to gain going to the bigger bar. |

Interior is going to be a grey/black scheme. Here is the seat. And i added heated seats as well. Thought the switch location turned out great.

All of the interior is back in now. New gm dash pad, repainted the door panels, new headliner, new carpet, all new system with 6x9 corner brackets, pioneer sub behind the seat and new kenwood cd player, jl speakers with amp mounted under the seat. The inside looks brand new. I will take some pictures of it this weekend. I really should have started a build thread but i didnt take as many pictures of the process as i would have liked. About the only thing not replaced right now is the factory original paint. LOL. This thing has been a blast to work on.

I have a feeling with all the extra power you would be very happy with it a little lower..It will look great too.

If you've already got a front sway bar, the most bang for the buck would probably be in replacing the bushings and upgrading to polygraphite or urethane. But I would lower it a little for sure and maybe add a universal rear sway bar.

Re: Help me decide!!!! 2.5/4 drop or stick with stock height??
Thanks for the feedback guys! I really do appreciate. I think dropping it down a little is the right idea. I want to be able to use the power safely and the taller height just doesnt seem like a good idea.
John, definitely agree on the bushings. The ones now are cracking and flat out worn out. I will look in to a rear bar as well. The bed is currently off the truck so it should easy enough to get that worked out. |

The only problem I see with dropping it a little is that you will want to drop it more after that. I say go 4/6 and get it done!.

I still need to be able to tow a 20 foot bass boat. Afraid a lower drop will cause an issue.
