2 ton cut down?
Hello guys, has anybody over here ever cut down a 2 ton truck? I found a farm truck that I have been wanting to do this to. Also what are the gear ratios available for those trucks? I'm assuming they have eaton rears?

I've thought about it on my 1-1/2 ton and making a flatbed with with short bed on it (reasonably short) with later running gear under it. I didn't check when I had the other rear end apart when I junked out the other 1-1/2 ton I bought with this one but I am thinking mid 5's on the gear ration. I keep hunting for a rough and rusted mid 70's Chevy or GMC as a donor truck but don't want to get money tied up in it right now. I'd most likely build it so that I could sell it to finance the paint and interior on the 48 anyhow.

Here is the rear axle infor for a 56. If yours is an AD scroll down on the page you land on to "year specification index", pick a year, and look for differential or axle information in the index.
