Gauge check on a nice Sunday Afternoon

Took the 72 for a nice cruise down I-75 this afternoon. I don't have a tach but I know the little 350 was singing along just nicely. It is easy to understand why these trucks were only good for about 80 to 90K before the engines would wear out.

Speedo was calibrated last fall so it is suppose to be good. It felt like 100 or at least 95. I gauge it at 55 with other traffic and it seems OK. I did not go for more then 5 miles like that and it sounded to be around 4,600 to 4,800 RPM's.

Lots of fun and I was surprised on how smooth the drive train felt.

By the way, I was by myself with very minimal traffic.

Ha, that is the only gauge that moves faster than the speedometer.

Re: Gauge check on a nice Sunday Afternoon

Back in the 80's one of my brothers had a 72 c10 with a 454/th400/ 3.73 rear. With the holley 750 double pumper if you stomped on the gas pedal you could see the gas gauge move! I thought it was cool but then again was was about a buck a gallon and i wasnt paying for it!
