exhaust
I getting ready to start planning/buying parts for a LS conversion in my 1975 C10. I am wondering whats the best exhaust set up to help my engine breath(pipe size, x or h joint, muffler, etc), I would REALLY like to do true duals. What you guys recommend?

Re: exhaust
I have 2.25" on my stock 4.8 in my 65, I have true duals also.
It really depends on what your motor is set up for. if you have a 4.8/5.3 stock with headers and a tune, 2.25/2.5" would be fine. If you have a 6.0+ with cam, headers tune, 2.5" would be minimum. 3" would be best I think. If you have it juiced or turbo, then 3" would be best, IMO.

Re: exhaust
^^^ looks about right. My 6.0 has 3" tru duals...tho I plan to add an H and would run an X if there were room.

Re: exhaust
My built LQ4 will run dual 2.25" only because I'm running the exhaust that was on the truck already since it matches the rest of the appearance.
Once I change it I will run dual 2.5" or a single 3, haven't decided.

Re: exhaust
I"m running 2.5" true duals with just a pair of magnaflow bullet muffler/resonators in. It works fine, but with my lq4 modded it ends up being a bit restrictive because a) its only 2.5" and it could use a bit more breath, and b) its not mandrel bent and the exhaust has some turbulence in a few places.

Re: exhaust
I run a 2.5" true dual set up with an x pipe on my stock 350, but I'll be using the same setup on my 6.0L. The hard core guys will tell you that 2.5" is too big for this size motor but when you figure in crush bends it evens out. Even with mandrels the power loss is insignificant unless you are going for a full track vehicle.

Re: exhaust
BTW I use a pair of flowmaster super 44s with no cats. If I didn't just buy the setup Id probably go with hooker max flows. I also just bought the Doug thorley tri-y's. Can't wait to see what they sound like.
