Cool What Order - Cab Suport / body mount / Cab Corner / Floors / Rockers

Hello and Good Day!

When Tacking the cab of my 69 c10 what is the best order to start replacing body mounts, cab supports, cab coroners, floor, inner / outer rocker?

I removed the seat, passenger side door and tank and have and have metal to fab a brace for the cab and have already purchased inner and outer rockers and cab corners.

Thank you!
Mike

It really depends on how much has to be repaired/replaced. Quite a few people have gone with a complete floor pan because there was so much damage.

When we did my '67 the cab mounts were ok, but we replaced the front supports first.

Then we put the doors on so we could align other repairs up. We replaced cab corners first, then the floor patches and finally the inner and outer rockers.

It is a slow process that requires many measurements before cutting and massaging with a hammer during the welding.

Everything turned out real good.

yeah, it all depends on how much work needs to be done...if the ends of the floor supports are bad, more then likely the inner/outer rockers, a and b pillars and outer floor are bad too. you gotta dig to the bottom and work your way back up. what I do is remove panels and pre-fit new ones as I dig to the braces. you will cut off the rocker panel, then you'll want to cut the bottom of the a-pillar and bottom of the b pillar off, I pre-fit the new replacements then (givin you have enough old metal to fit the new panels to. eventually you'll have the cab cut out down to the braces, replace them, then put the other panels on: braces, outter floor, kick panel, a/b pillar, cab corner, then rocker. well, thats the basic idea anyway.

All I know is I fit rockers with the door installed. I'd have to see the truck, but there's a practical order to all this. Mainly, everything has to be fitted with each other before any welding. Just a tack if you can't clamp it. Don't be in a hurry to weld anything till it's all fitted up.

Thanks for asking this. I will be ripping into mine this winter to start fixing it up. Mine will need an all new floor pan, cab corners, rocker panel, cab supports. Didn't know where to begin.

The more i look at the truck i will start with the pillar's and then cab supports. special-K made a great comment - hang the door then start to tack - etc.

As everyone has suggested tack to test fitment, But all the repairs you are going to do I did this past winter and if you click on my name there is a lot of pictures in my album that shows how i did it. And the last page in the photo album is the beginning of my steps that i took. Maybe it might help
