Porterbuilt control arms vs ?
Hello everyone, I'm going to be purchasing a few items for my truck and was wondering what everyones input was on porterbuilt control arms vs stock or other brands? I'm already getting the dropmember and was wondering if I should get the control arms with it or if I should put the money somewhere else on the truck. thanks for the input.

Re: Porterbuilt control arms vs ?
The newest version of the dropmember will require either Porterbuilt or Michigan Metal Works LOWER a-arms.
(EDIT: the Porterbuilt website says stock 73-87 lower control arms will still work. I would verify that with them) Upper a-arms can be PB, MMW, Ridetech, CPP, or stock. I would just get the PB a-arms. They are sold in stock width or a narrowed version. Call Porterbuilt for all your suspension options.

Thanks Keith, I didnt know that. I also was wondering what would be the best rack to get with the member and arms and does it adapt to the existing colum?

They use 79-93 Mustang racks. I know Nate has mentioned having failures with certain brands of rebuilt racks. I believe they recommend and sell new racks vs used/rebuilt racks. I just don't remember the brand they use. They can answer all your questions.

Re: Porterbuilt control arms vs ?
I'll be calling and picking there brain tomarrow then, I see you know all about the disc brake conversion and I read up on it and was wondering if there a better option for the porterbuilt arms for disc brake options or should I just get some spindles and brakes off a 72 at the junk yard to rebuild them like it says? or would it be better to get a dropmember and arms for the same year of the spindles and brakes for that what I'm going to go with?

Re: Porterbuilt control arms vs ?
Screw junk yard parts.
These trucks are 40+ years old. Nothing in the junkyard is worth using. If you are considering a Dropmember, to get your truck low,... you will want drop spindles also. Porterbuilt sells McGaughy's dics brake parts also. You better place your Porterbuilt order soon. There is a 6-8 week wait on parts from what I read on here. They are swamped with business. Which is good,...
