Cigarette Lighter question
I have a '68 GMC truck and it has an original cigarette lighter in it. The element is old and corroded. Is there a way to replace the element?

Re: Cigarette Lighter question
used to b able to buy the bottom of the lighter seperatly// the handle just screws off/// i have bought generic replacement lighters in the past and just unscrewed the handles and installed the factory handle on the new element to make it right
but its been awhile, and since i quit smokin i dont pay too much attention to car lighters

Re: Cigarette Lighter question
I don't smoke either, this lighter I have tried to unscrew. I do not want to wreck it, it does work but looks like crap. I was hoping somebody would read this and tell me where and how to unscrew

Re: Cigarette Lighter question
You may need to just get a different lighter. You can pick up an original used one in working order for about $20 on eBay or the parts board

Re: Cigarette Lighter question
I would try to very gently polish it with a soft brass wire brush.

Re: Cigarette Lighter question
Help makes a universal element that should screw on to the knob. The part # is 56444. Try your local parts chain store or online.

Re: Cigarette Lighter question
soak it with PB Blaster or something similar fron the botton end down to the top. Set it on the handle and soak, wait a few days and screw off replace with HELP Brand parts.
