C10 C1000 1/2 ton Steering Advice

I'm interested in any steering advise, specifications, interchange, part numbers, tools, thread size, etc applicable to 1960-66 C10 2WD.

I need a Pitman Arm for 1966 GMC C1000 1/2ton 2WD. From pics MOOG-K6086 looks correct. Some specs claim K6086 fits 1960-66 chevy but only 1960-65 GMC?
Does LMC have good pitman arm brand?
PerformanceOnline has one for $39.99.
Don't know if low quality knock offs are out there?
Do pitman arms for newer trucks have same splines but different drop/length/clock?

I may go ahead and replace idler for good measure. Prices vary widely. Parts geek 13969-07063210 is only $17.75.

Just my opinion, but steering and brake parts are not the place for the cheapest parts/knockoffs you can find.

Autozone.com has some competetive pricing and I believe AdvanceAutoParts offers discount codes if ordering online.

Advance has MOOG K6086 $116.99 for 1966 chevy. No exact fit for 1966 GMC. Maybe a try and see thing.

I found an interchange for a Rare Parts number 20109 which does list the part as fitting 1963-66 Chevy C10 RWD and '62-63 and 65-66 GMC C1000RWD.
Maybe that ifo will help you?

Thanks. Those GMC years are strange. I'm betting chevy and gmc is same.

I separated pitman arm from centerlink w/ AZ loaner puller tool.

Nut was 1 5/16" and came off w/ 2' cheater bar.

I've yet to pull pitman arm from steering shaft because I don't have a 2 1/4" throat puller. AZ doesn't have 2 1/4" puller either.

They should have a pitman arm puller.

I agree and would venture to guess it is the same arm. It also fits C20, and C30 models.

RE: buying parts, try Rock Auto. Watch the shipping, but there are lots of good prices on closeout stuff there; regular prices are pretty good, too. Also always a 5% off thing floating around on the net. Autozone/Advanced sell the cheapest crap they can get, they just charge more for it. Some stuff is OK, but most of the time the online dealers have the same for a lot less IME. An example: A lower ball joint for my one ton. Raybestos for $14.32, or "Duralast" for $27. It seems everything at Autozone/Advanced is "special order" anytime I need it, anyways. That, or it doesn't exist.

Your right. I went to AZ across town and they had large pitman arm puller and it worked great. Did take a fair amount of elbow grease.
