Ls thermostat housing question

working on a ls swap I have a 2004 5.3 i wanna change the thermosat housing to one that is more straight out water pump. 5.3 Colorado is what i wanted to use but the ID of the thermostat post clamps are to big, a trailblazer has a slight angle and will fit with the upper bolt hole slotted. My question is the trailblazer thermostat is shallow were as the original truck is longer or goes deeper into the water pump.could this be a potential problem with heating and cooling? what have you guys used??

LSx thermostat housing question

I'm starting to collect data for a themostat housing swap. I was looking for a billet piece that you can swivel the direction of the outlet, and possibly match the diameter for the stock radiator.

Here is some info I found about the changes.

97-03 model water pumps have the thermostat as part of the thermostat housing, and is not removable (at least not by hand). This style uses a large O-ring to seal the housing to the pump. 04-present water pumps have a thermostat that has a separate housing, and the thermostat easily slides out. The O-ring on this model is part of the thermostat. Another visual difference is in the casting. The 97-03 housings have an additional tab on it to hold the wiring in place for the A/C compressor. The 04-present models do not have that tab. The housings are not interchangeable between pumps since the diameter of the thermostat cavity is different and the bolt pattern for the housing is different.

***NOTE : GM water pumps sold after 2005 all have the 2-piece design, meaning if you ordered a new GM water pump for your 1998 Corvette, it came with the newer 2-piece thermostat.

Street & Performance makes some options but not sure which is correct...

Machined from 6061-T6 Billet aluminum and uses O-ring seals eliminating the need for gaskets or messy silicone.
For 54mm Early Model Chevrolet Thermostat.

Approximately 2 1/4” from the bottom to the highest point (top of the hose connection)

*Stainless steel bolts are included.
