Throttle Linkage
Does anyone have any pics of the linkage on a 6cyl to SBC swap?
I am at a bit of a loss as to where to start. Thanks

Re: Throttle Linkage
Unless you have your heart set on mechanical linkage, you might want to consider swapping to a cable throttle. I switched mine to a 1971-72 model and it changed the entire personality of driving the truck. It is really smooth. Details of the installation are shown on my build thread starting around post #110:

Re: Throttle Linkage
On all my stuff it's really easy. The rod itself that normally goes from the firewall to the bellcrank goes to the throttle on the carb instead. On my 2 barrel 283, to get full throttle travel I drilled a hole in the throttle closer to the pivot and added a ball joint. Screwed one in the hole in the crank on the firewall, and used an old adjustable rod I had laying around to link it all up. Works nicely, and it's super easy to do.

Re: Throttle Linkage
Why not just get a linkage from a sb truck and install? Only 2 bolts and about 10 min worth of work.

Re: Throttle Linkage
That's what I had planned on doing but I can't find the linkage. The body shop lost all but the rod to the pedal and the rod just on the other side of the firewall.

Re: Throttle Linkage
This is reproduction linkage for a 67 Camaro with 396. One end threads into the other, so it's adjustable for length. Works great.

Re: Throttle Linkage
This rod connects to your factory linkage coming from the firewall?

Re: Throttle Linkage
For about 20 years I just used a pair of rod ends and a length of ¼” all thread to connect the carb to the firewall pivot arm, and never had a problem. This shows the overall setup:
And this is the back half. Obviously I changed spring connections at some time: These are the rod ends I used. The all thread came from a local hardware store: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-3812g

Re: Throttle Linkage
If you go the aftermarket route, Lokar has a couple of decent ones. If you're just after a cable, Mr Gasket makes a decent universal cable, my buddy used that one with good results.
