new radio question

I want to put in a new style radio in my truck (81 SWB) the last owner apparently had done it because the metal part of the dash is cut but the bezel is not. What have the rest of you done? What is the best way to brace up a radio for the bumpy road ahead? Thanks

Take a rotozip or sawzall or something similar and cut it out after carefully measuring your hole, you don't wanna mess up and make an unsightly mess. Take it nice and slow so you don't crack the bezel. To brace the stereo, you'll want to use some steel strapping and either wrap it around the stereo and bolt it up to something solid above the stereo, or you'll want to bolt the strapping to the back of your stereo then bolt it up above. Be very very very careful if you are planning on installing your own bolting point on the back of the stereo, they pack those little units FULL of delicate electronics. I would very highly recommend that you do not take to your headunit with a drill
