S10 V8 swap motor mounts

So I bought this S10 frame from a guy who had already had it down to a rolling chassis with hopes to turn a 51 ford into a rat rod.
This left me wondering what engine used to be in this truck. The reason I'm asking is for V8 motor mounts.
I've been researching them, but they ask if the truck was 4 or 6 cylinder, and 2wd or 4wd.
The frame I have is a 2wd, but as for engine, I have no clue.

Does anyone know by looking at the mounting holes which "Jegs" motor mounts I need to order for a short block chev?

Before you order motor mounts, what are your plans for this frame?

Re: S10 V8 swap motor mounts

Don't use S-10 V8 mounts! You need to set the body on the chassis, then mock up the motor location. Plan on building motor mount stands from scratch.

In a V8 S-10 the motor needs to be located as forward as possible, in an AD truck you need the motor more rearward in the chassis. I have both a V-8 S-10 and an S-10 chassis under my 50, the S-10 mounts were worthless in the 50.

I second that, the engine sets farther back than the normal location for an s10. I used s10 v8 mounts at first but I had to start over and ended up with mounts from a 95 s10 4 cly. and modified them some.

Re: S10 V8 swap motor mounts

I built my own S10 V8 mounts using 63 Chevy pickup mounts which are about 1" tall and a plate welded to the stock mount. It seemed a lot easier and it sure was cheaper! Can get pics if interested (the mounts are still around here).

Oops, I forgot to explain. I have a '51 chev 1300 going onto it. The engine is a 400 sb.

So you're saying these mounts won't work for my application? Ummm....damn!:hmm

Re: S10 V8 swap motor mounts

Actually there a couple guys on here (including me) who have used them. But you have to reverse them. Left side on Right, Right on Left. And they have to be supported in the rear because they hang over. But, I wouldn't go out and buy S-10 mounts. I, and I assume the other guys here who have used them just happened to have them already. Also, in my case I had to go with electric fuel pump as you can see....

Re: S10 V8 swap motor mounts

Alrighty, well I'm yanking the 400 out tomorrow, so I should have more of an idea as to where and how. I'm a total hot rod virgin, so be gentle and patient with my ignorance lol
