Re: Suspension info.

The shock absorber is a lever action unit as Rude Dude said. The spring on top of the axle is an overload spring that came into play when you loaded the truck down so that the ends of the overload spring contacted the bumpers you see on the axle.

According to this http://www.adchevy.com/info/yeartoyearchanges/ tube shocks were on the truck beginning with 1950 so that frame should be 1947 to 1949.

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Suspension info.

fb51, I have the same set up on my 49 and just completed a break down of the springs. My eyes were gone (oval) and the leafs are all grooved. Let me know if you have any questions and maybe I can help. Do you plan to refurb the originals like me or are you doing a hot rod?

Re: Suspension info.

pvienneau, I am unsure as to what is going to be done on this frame. It is #3 in line of truck projects. My flatbed shop truck is currently getting frame work done.
