What jack do you carry?

Just an idle time question, if you carry a jack and lug wrench in your truck, what kind do you carry and where do you store it, or do you just depend on your cell phone?

Re: What jack do you carry?

I drove around for a year with a small bottle jack and a breaker bar with the thin socket I needed for my rims. And the whole time I never remembered to put the wheel lock key in my truck. Thankfully I never got a flat.

Re: What jack do you carry?

I've got an old school scissors jack with a long collapsible handle. The lug wrench is an old x bar. They both rattle around under the seat, I don't have a spare yet, but I'm going to find a space saver. Now that the gas tank is out of the cab, I'm thinking about mounting the spare & jack behind the seat. We will see if it works out.
If it doesn't there's always the cell phone & AAA.

Re: What jack do you carry?

I always carry a bottle jack and an X wrench. I also carry the right size socket for the lugnut with a breakover bar just in case. I keep it all in the toolbox.

Re: What jack do you carry?

Chevy full size vans have the jack and lug wrench in a plastic holder. I'm going to try to find one of those at the pull-a-part and carry it under the seat. Those vans also have a crank up spare tire holder that I'm wondering about adding to my truck.

Re: What jack do you carry?

I carry a jack set up from a 98 Tahoe, also triple A, Visa, AMX cards and a cell phone and if I'm towing my Travel trailer a Good Sam card.

So far I've only used the jack and AAA card.

Re: What jack do you carry?

A bottle jack to lift it high enough to get the scissors jack under the axle so I can lift it up. I've got a think multi fit spare off an 84 Olds Delta 88 that My dad had that will usually get me to a tire store to have the tire repaired.

Re: What jack do you carry?

I'm not old enough or disabled enough yet to want to sit on the side of the road and wait for AAA to show up. Around here it is at least a two hour wait and maybe more before the truck shows up most of the time. I can be a hundred miles down the road after changing my own tire by then.

About a 30 min wait out here. Worth it to me as it is just more to carry in a truck where there is no room to put a spare anyway. No spare, no jack
I don't need a buggy if I dont have no horse.

Hey, HEY....just about pierced my hide with that one, Pilgrim!

I'm 58 and I'm NOT disabled at all. Probably can still beat you in a run around the block. But seriously, it IS only a 20-30 minute wait here in civilization.

I pay for the service - I'm using it. Believe me, it's a LOT safer than trying to change a tire on the SoCal freeway system.
