Yes 2 1/2 no problem with cable check out post#8 my other side has the same clearance.

got mine done yesterday using some 4" sch40 , 4-1/2" hole saw and a piece of plywood for the template which works great . Kind of a pain doing it laying on your back but the end result is worth it .
