Custom 68,
That is a beautiful truck (looks like mine). CPNE is correct as usual. That engine, 305 V6, was only offered 67-69. The larger 351V6 was not offered in the 4x4. The engine number is located right in front of the passenger side head on the top of the block. 305E should appear in the number. My guess is that it is a 69 model because of the power steering. In 68 GM was in the process of changing from the ram type to the power gear box most people have. The air cleaner looks like it is off of a Ford. This truck may have been ordered with the oil bath type filter and changed out. The radiator hose is not correct either, there should be a metal section between the two rubber hoses (not being critical). I will be happy to help you if I can. I have an extra 67-69 GMC master parts book you can have for $25 delivered if you want. Keep us posted. By the way, that truck will fit on a long U-haul car carrier. Brought mine in from Amarillo.

Erl, I knew you'd have some insight. I did not know the 351 was a 2wd only engine.
BTW, I'm using your truck for my desktop. I tell everybody it's mine

Wow ERL yes I would like the book. I will PM you. Thanks for the info. I had found that link it has some interesting reading in it. It is an old farm truck so I am not sure of the history. The gentleman my wife bought it from is a friend of her uncles I think he picked it up and never did much with it so he doesnt know much either. He told my wife and uncle it is a 71 and has a clear title. but like CPNE said it may just have that cab.
Now for the good part I think. She only paid 450 dollars for it. I figure hey even if it is a hodge podge (sp) of years it is certainly fixable and will be a fun truck. by piecing together what everybody has said it is probably a 69 because of the engine and the old style hubs. Only a detaild exam will tell. I will probably hit the board up again with tons of questions. Thanks Dave
