Hello all. I am new to the board. Thanks to Woogeroo on HAMB for the heads up. My name is Grant and I have a 1964 C20.
128k miles
283 V8
4-speed
Eaton rear with NoSPIN locker and 4.56 gears
Orginal paint now faded after 48 years in AZ
Long bed with original wood

No mods other than different wheels, taking 2" out of the front suspension and re-covering the bench seat.

We are using it now to go back and forth to the horse barn and feed store mostly. It gets daily usage. I would like to do some more to the interior, get some more power from the 283 and swap the granny gear 4-speed for a manual tranny with OD. I joined the forum here to get some ideas and ask some questions. After reading around a bit it seems like the right place. We all love pics so...

Here is the interior. I would love to know if anyone knows a resource for the boot for the drivetrain parking brake. I have checked around but no luck so far.

I like the one in your avatar. If you want to find trucks like mine AZ is definitely the place. I see cool old trucks and cars parked out here in yards and on ranches all the time just baking in the sun.

Beautiful truck, and welcome to the full floating axle club! Really glad you aren't going to give it the El Camino treatment.

Also, you might consider just a 4.10 third member and tall drive tires. (I think those are 245/75 tires you have now?) My truck has a 283, 33.5" tires, and a 4.10. It runs about 2,150RPM @ 50MPH. With shorter 235/85R16 radials it should still be around 2,250RPM at the same. You should be able to come up with a 4.10 third member for $100-200, and you don't even need to jack the truck up to change it.

Thanks for the advice. I have 255/70s now. I have no idea what exact rpms I am turning as there is no tach. It is a very basic truck from a gauge perspective. The initial owner must have been cheap. It even has "radio delete."

That's a pretty short tire. I looked it up and got 695 revs per mile, 235/85 is 650-660. I figure right now you are turning close to 3,200 @ 60, so 2,700 should be a big improvement. With the tall tires and 4.10's you would be running 70MPH where you are now running 60.

BTW, my truck is a stripped down model, too, old Coca-Cola truck. No rearview mirror, cigarette lighter, or passenger side visor. I have a big 5" racing tach hanging off the column. Looks kinda funny.

Funny! I have the passenger side visor but no rearview mirror. I do have a hole in the dash where a cigarette lighter should go. I am going to look into 4.10s and larger tires. I appreciate that advice.

im pretty sure they came in the bigger trucks like a c30 c50 c80. i have seen the VAC & AIR gauges. i just dont like blanks in my cluster so i found something chevy truck 1965 correct.

Thanks for the compliment on the truck. Having lived most of my life on the Atlantic coast, I am very done with rust. The driveline handbrake is factory. It must also be rare too because it took me some searching to find a boot for it.
