GMC side window trim on a Chevrolet

Found the window trim on a GMC and wondering how it would look on my 66 Chevrolet. I like the way it looks on this truck. And it covers a paint line too. What are your thoughts?

Re: GMC side window trim on a Chevrolet

I have always felt that the GMC upper door trim would look right at home on a Chevy with the Custom cab. The side window trim is a perfect compliment to the chrome windshield trim.

It looks much nicer on a Chevrolet with the custom panel than it does on a GMC with the poorly fitted strip up the back.

Kinda what I was thinking too. I really like how it looks with the sail panel and it covers that paint line. I think I'll go ahead and do it with the windshield trim next week. I'm sure someone at a show will ask why there's GMC trim on my truck lol. Oh well.

Re: GMC side window trim on a Chevrolet

I think it looks real good.
I'm doing it on my '61 Suburban too... the GMC Custom Cab Carryall had the same piece on the doors as yours, and then two long matching strips going down the side, one above the side windows, one below.
They mimic the angle of the back of the door frame, so the one on top ends ahead of the plane for the one on the bottom. Then there's a thin piece that goes on the D-pillar, just like the piece that goes on the B-pillar on the pick-up cabs to "finish" the assembly.
I'm going to leave that last piece off, so the back of the side trim is open.
With it ending staggered like that, it picks up the feel of the whole roof line, and I think it'll have the visual effect of motion, like the angled-forward window pillars on the truck.

I like it. It really ties in nicely with the chrome windshield trim.

My windshield and side window trim is off of a '65 GMC.
