had a question.. got an 86 suburban, bucket seats, and the seat bottom on one side is torn up. I am thinking of getting covers for both seats, but they are the seats that have folding arm rests on both sides. I was wondering what the best approach would be. Do they make covers specifically for these seats, or do you have to take the armrests off, put the covers on, then reattach the armrests, or ..??? Or can you buy just a cover for the seat bottoms that would look halfway decent with the factory seat backs??

You might just check at an upholstery shop,I got my bench seat bottom recovered in material to match the seat back for eighty five bucks total.Not just a cover either,he cut and sewed it to match the seams in the seat back and all,looks just like factory.Only problem was it took him about a month to find the matching material.

some of the catalogue companies have replacement covers that match factory seats or you could go to the local parts place and get the aftermarkets. most of those are poor quality tho and you would have to make some hole to accomodate the arm rests unless it was factory designed that way. Personally id go the upholstery shop way

yea.. I was wanting to stay away from having to just buy a regular cover and poke holes in it. But the local places here don't carry anything to accomodate the arm rests. Another question - the ones that are made for the arm rest, do you have to take the arm rest off to put them on?? if so, how do they come off of the seat?
