The test drive yesterday made me a longer todo list. It really told me that this truck spent it's whole life as a farm truck. Nothing seems to work or worn out. I'm going to have to do the complete brake job, lights, seat cover, horn and turn signals. I have read that some people were having trouble in finding the right brake drums. Is this still a problem? I also was looking up the horn parts in the steering wheel. LMC only showed two of the parts, Classic did the same. My horn stays on all the time. I have all the pieces and I cant seem to get it to work right. Anybody had the same problem and where do you get the parts from? Any help would be great!

A place for parts is the Truck Shop in california. Heres their number 1-800-243-8947. I know that some were on the internet is a website call The truckers. Hope this helps and yes I have had problems finding parts of catalogs, but you can also go to a junk yard. Hope this helps.

brake parts can be bought at your local parts place. autozone etc. the only drums that are hard to get are the rears for gmc and they are not hard to get if you know what to order. all of the rubber lines and springs etc. are at your parts store

The most common reasoon the horn will stay on is a stuck relay. Happens alot on trucks that have been sitting a while. The relay is right next to the voltage regulator on the drivers side of the radiator support. Available at your local parts store also.

Classic Parts of America out of Kansas City is also a good source, as well as Classic Chevrolet in Oklahoma City

Thanks! I was wondering about the relay but It looked like it was in the column.

If memory serves, the "relay looking device" on the column for a '62 is actually the turn signal switch, controled by a small cable up to the lever, but I may be wrong.

Good to know...wracked my brain messin with the beville spring till it finally started working right...mighta been a stuck then unstuck relay.
