Thank you!
Replacement drums from the local auto parts store run right at $100 a pair after tax here so the $360 cost from CPP for new axles & drums is about the same cost as buying the Moser axles and local purchase new a set of 71-72 drums.

Another option with rear drums is to find a square body C10 with the larger 11-5/32"x2-3/4" rear brake drums for a little better braking and much more common replacement parts. Get the whole backing plate & drum assembly off of it. In addition to a square body these can also come off a G10 or G20 van. I went this route and it cost me less than $25. Mine came from a 92 G20 van.

I cheated a little and have leaf spring rear suspension so I am using a square body rear axle in mine that I had left over from another project. I was able to just pick up a set of common 5-lug C10 axles and the brake drums to match and swapped out the 6-lug axles & drums that came on my 4x4 sourced rear axle. Square body trucks use the same rear end housing for both 2wd and 4x4 so it doubles the gene pool for donor axles when you need parts.

I assume a trailing arm 12-bolt will have the same axle flange to backing plate mount distance as a square body leaf spring 12-bolt. I will find out for sure when I rework the rear brakes on my stepside.
