327 Engine heads numbers

Presure washed my engine today and found these numbers on the Heads, I was told it was a 327 in a 71 c10 but not sure//

anyone know how to decode it I looked and could not find anything...

#'s on small block heads don't mean much.The heads can be swapped on just about any other small block of the era.Infact from 56-90's when they went to the vortec should all interchange.Get the numbers off the engine pad to determine the engine ci.

That # is not a head #, its the block stamp in front of the passenger head.

09=September
14=14th day, its not I4
DA= can be a 1965 283 or a 1968 307. Either one would have been a manual trans 3-speed with a 2-barrel originally.

To confirm what it is you need the block casting number behind the drivers side head right where the bellhousing bolts on.


The head #'s are cast into the head and you have to remove the valve covers to see them.
