what size lift is this if any?

Any thoughts? I'm guessing a 2" and 33x12.50 but I would like to know if it's like the tuff country 2" or if you think it's skyjackers 2.5" I really want this exact stance.

It looks more like 2 - 3" over 33's to me. The last picture looks like the rear is higher than in the first two pics, might be an angle thing. You seem to favor 2.5 to 3" over 33's - no need to over-analyze it, just pull the trigger. You'll be happy.

haha i hear ya guys just wanting to lift it once so wanting to be 100% sure it's what i want all together for example i may like the looks of bigger but have in my head not wanting to get it too big slow and un DD like.

things like that I'm trying to consider as I make my choice! i'm in no rush but yeah pretty soon will be going one route or the other and also considering do i want to gear swap etc..

you guys have been a huge help though trust me i appreciate it.

** here's the deal if i go small lift i really like the 2.5' look of the skyjacker softride but scared it will ride harsh may sound silly but i think the 3" looks a tad much and 2" not enough that 2.5 sits perfect on every rigs i've seen run it.

if the softrides had a good rep like the tuff country i would have already bought. Love the look of it on this k5

If you like the look of the larger lifts 4" or 6" and you put the 2"-2.5" lift in your truck you will be redoing your lift (going higher) sooner rather than later. Ask someone with a 4" or 6" lift to take you for a ride. Try to get a ride in more than one truck. Everthing will affect the ride quality from the spring rate, shocks, tire design, tire pressure, to the weight of your truck with whatever accessories you have in it or on it. Looking at the pictures you have posted I would venture a guess that you probably should go with a 4" lift. You'll get noticable height increase, decent ride and if you go with a 33" tire you won't need to regear unless you chose too.

Have you looked at the spring rates of the two kits? What are they?

Yes, I believe the ez rides are listed at 295lbs and the skyjacker softrides at 490lbs. I could be wrong but those are the number I have locked in memory.

some say the softrides ride better/softer than stock then some say if they call that softride I would hate to see their regular springs.

Then I see tuff countrys sag because they're only 3 leafs etc..I just want to do it right.

I contacted BDS because I read good reviews on their kit slightly harher than TC but softer than skyjacker and won't sag so I've read. But they don't sell an all spring 2.5" lift it only comes in blocks I called and made sure because the website shows only blocks. If I do end up going 4" it will more than likely be BDS.

Good to see you are doing your homework. Spring rates less than 550-ish are going to ride good, just make sure you buy good hydraulic shocks instead of gas charged shocks.

thanks for the tip haven't really thought about shocks too much planning to buy the bilstein 5100's I have read good reviews on them. Any idea what the factory springs are? my fronts are just 2 leafs. rear are 5 i think. I know some have 3 and 5 mine is the 2 and 5 setup.

I don't know what the spring rate is on factory springs, but don't turn your nose up at anything in the 300-400 range. I can't speak to the Bilsteins but it is very hard to beat Rancho RS5000 shocks on price and ride.

The first K5 I lifted was a 76 that I put a Rancho 2.5" lift kit on, spring front and block rear. It rode great. For my current 4x4 K5 I had my mind made up to buy the Tuff Country EZ Ride 3" lift because everyone says it rides so good. But I found a K5 in the junk yard with a Rancho 2.5" lift on it a few weeks back, so I had to get it. Out of curiosity I googled the spring rate - 450. Then I remembered lowering a Mustang GT a few years ago with an Eibach kit, the spring rates were 500-something and it rode great, the "stiff" coils were in the 600+ range.

So.

Buy the Tuff Country or the Skyjacker, just make sure you put some basic hydraulic shocks on it and nothing fancy - you'll be fine.
