I decided to take the stuck on heater , repaired , began by removing the right inner fender :

Pic. # 1 is the leading edge of my inner fender .
Pic. # 2 shows the lower edge of my core support . Pic. # 3 shows the pieces of fender & core support that ripped out .

Then I removed the hood & right side hinge (BAD design here Chevrolet Division !) then the heater box to see yet MORE rust holes in the cab :
