Re: Audio options

Re: Audio options
There's lots of good brands out there, what's your budget and is this off head unit power or are you planning to run an amp to them?

Re: Audio options
I'm not big on boom blasters, but I know that you will get better sound if you enclose the speakers in some sort of box, rather than let them hang out in relative open air like the stock speakers. I made custom boxes to fit into the cab corners out of 1/4" MDF, then cut a hole in the front panel for the speakers. I just used cheap JVC round speakers (3.5" diameter?) and they sound good to me. Of course, I am half deaf - so anything sounds good to me.

Re: Audio options
I remember my second truck (85 f150), i went to a hardware store and bought some 1x8 to fit some sony 6 x 9's made a little box for each sealed them up and left the extra footage of sony speaker wire.
to make a long story short being in highschool we'd have bon fires and my truck was the music machine when those speakers were placed on the roof! When i get to brownies interior, i am looking at one of the new retro fit and look stereo's replacing all three dash speakers and some sort of setup behind the seat. Currently she has the jensen 6 x 9's mounted in a piece of wood paneling and screwed to the cab just behind the seat. |

Jimmys have different space but
i used 4" and 6" pioneer in the 78 removed the ashtrays and did the 79 out of stocker stuff i have noticed the 4X10s seems to stretch, crack at the ends(pioneers 4X10 were in those rear boxes dosn't happen so much with the round ones

Re: Audio options
check out bigblock73's 6x9 brackets. They fit in place of factory 4x10 brackets and give you much more options on speakers.
