Ok I have received the heli coil kit. It says that I will need a tap. I thought I had one but I dont. Just to make sure can someone post a pic of a tap?

if ya go to a place like Pep Bopys they sell heliocoil kits that have the tap as part of the kit and its like $20 for the whole thing ive used them and it works well although its not a name brand tool

I don't have a pick, but it looks like a taperd bolt with a v cut into the threads. I'll see if I can find a pic

is what kind of tool would I use for the tap?

The tap and die sets come with a hand tool for them that you turn to put them in, although I guess you could use anything that'd turn them, just be careful not to go too fast and strip it back out.

"buy the tool",,,,,,,,,,,people have used crecent wrenches to tap holes,and ive seen them break the tap ,,,,pay the $15.00 and save yourself some possible problems........use oil on the tap,go 1 full turn,then back out 1/4 turn,go 1 full turn ,back out 1/4,,,,,till you get the depth you want jeff,,,,

Ok I got the tap wrench. How much oil should I use on the tap just enough to coat it once?

Do it like jef5150 said and use a cutting oil if you can get it.If you can't get cutting oil use something light like machine oil.If you don't back the tap out to "break" the chip,you will surely break the tap in the hole and will be in worse shape than you are now.Oh yeah,try to keep the tap as straight as you can while tapping,do not assume it will follow the hole,I speak from experience

Ok I dont have any machine or cutting oil. How about a dab of 10 30 will that work?
