Re: Ridler 695 backspace
Whatever the backspace is on these wheels its right. I have a set in the sizes you posted and the fit is ideal.

Re: Ridler 695 backspace
The 20x8.5 come with 4.75" backspace, the 20x10 come with 5.5" backspace, sounds about perfect.

Re: Ridler 695 backspace
Man, so much contradictory info regarding backspace. I'm looking to pull the trigger on a set this week in the same sizes. Backspacing has got me wringing my hands. I keep hearing 5"-5.75" BS on an 8.5 is ideal.

Re: Ridler 695 backspace
Backspacing equal how you want it to look.
Personal opion is what drives these numbers. (Thats why I hate giving out numbers about backspacing) Myself,... I hate the front track width being wider than the rear,... or the wheels being closer to the fenders on the front than the rear. My opinion (for me),... I want more backspacing than a 4.75" BS on a 8.5" wheel up front on a 67-87 truck with a stock crossmember and stock width a-arms. There are a ton of varibles when talking BS numbers. But it all boils down to personal preference.

Re: Ridler 695 backspace
When I see one of these trucks with a narrowed crossmember or +offset wheels, to me it just looks silly with the front wheels sucked in and 2" fender clearance. Never did see the point in that but just my opinion.
I do agree about the rear. I would move the rear out over moving the front in. In my case, on my truck, I will be adding a 1" spacer on the rear. Edit: I must confess, I do not have front inner fenders. At my lowered ride height the tires rub making a sharp turn with 4.75" bs. (must raise 4 u turn) The fenders are designed (patent pending) to rub while not cut the tire.

Re: Ridler 695 backspace
Okay. Got it.
I see what you’re saying, too, Keith. I don’t want them sticking out past the edge of the fenders, but I don’t particularly care for them being “sucked in” too far inboard. |

Re: Ridler 695 backspace
4.75" bs vs 5 25" bs is only 1/2" difference.
But I don't like depending on my suspension to keep the fenders off the tires. I like having my wheels placed correctly so if I hit and unexpected hard bump I have room for the suspension to compress. This means allowing for the curves of the fenders or bedsides. Even more critical on bagged trucks or super low static dropped trucks. Posted via Mobile Device
