What are these two wires??
These ran over to my stock starter on my old motor (the purple and white wire). I know one is the "on" and supplies power to the fuse panel and the other is the "S" or start wire. Just not sure which is which. Common sense would say the smaller wire with the funky insulation would be the start but I'm not sure. My new mini starter only has the bat cable terminal and the start so I have to rewire the power supply to the panel. Can someone confirm? Thanks!

Re: What are these two wires??
The purple goes to your starter and the white I believe goes to your distributor/coil it's the battery terminal wire for HEI *I think*

Re: What are these two wires??
The purple wire is the start wire like Series says. The white wire is a bypass wire to feed the full available voltage to the coil when cranking. It is not nessesay with HEI & some electronic ign. conversions.

Re: What are these two wires??
Well I know there has to have been an ignition wire to supply the panel while in the keyed on position. I was using the white wire and I have a full MDS ignition. Now I'm really confused. Maybe I had the white wire hooked up not even realizing that it wasn't doing anything.

I thought that the Yellow wire from the starter was for full 12 volts to the coil when starting and the cloth sheathed wire was the resistance wire that cut the voltage down to 6-8 volts for running?? LockDoc

Re: What are these two wires??
Brain fart over. I now see the big red wire coming from the fuse panel that run directly to the batter. Mystery over! Thanks guys!
