Air Shocks?
Has anyone used air shocks on their trucks? I know they don't work for any lowering purposes like using them like bags. I'm just throwing ideas around. I'm sure they make the ride very nice.

I have never used them on my trucks but I have them on my 72 El Camino which came factory installed and I hate them.

I had some on my truck when I bought it. They didn't ride that great, they leaked, and I wouldn't suggest to anyone using them.

They were in fact a factory option G66 on some coil C10 trucks. Problem is they are really only good as a temporary load leveler. The more pressure you put in them the faster the ride turns to stone. The air lines are a maintance issue and if you don't keep a minimum of about 10 psi in them the bladders get trashed. Spring your truck for load you will normally carry and buy premium shocks. If you need an overload capability buy some Air Lift air bags. They do much the same as an air shock at a much lower pressure while still giving a reasonable ride.

I have them on my truck, its lowered two inches in the front and has 3 inch blocks in the back. I love them cause I can raise the back a Lil and have support when I haul something in the back. They are monroes

Had factory air shocks in my '69 El Camino -- steel air lines instead of typical nylon aftermarket lines. No trouble with them but I only kept the Elky about two years. Like others said, they aren't for a soft ride, but to stiffen the ride for heavier loads -- or in my case, to keep the rear fenders off the L70-15s on 15x10 chrome wheels. 100# pressure did it, but it rode pretty firmly.

Air shocks work awesome. I have them in the back of my 1978 c10. With 80psi in the shocks I can carry 600lbs of dirt bikes no problem and never bottom out. With no air in the shocks, the axel touches the frame when you stand in the back. You get about 2 lift with the shocks. Definitely not as good as an air bag for height adjustment, but they do the job if you need an inch or two of lift or need to carry extra weight. Plus they are cheap and bolt right in.
Mine ride great and don't leak. If yours are broken then replace them with new ones and you will see how nice they can be. Highly recommended for anyone on a budget or looking for an easy fix. Posted via Mobile Device
