73-80 hood release

Saw a 79 bonanza with the interior hood release. How exactly do you pull it out and what parts do you need to pull? I know the cable lever and the latch need to be pulled what else?

The top piece on the core support is different as it has the different holes for the cable. You might need the center grille support because of the way the latch attaches. Also, there is a brace rod at the top of the center grille support. I just pulled the whole setup from a 77 that I'm parting right now.

Re: 73-80 hood release

Make sure that you get the part that goes on the hood as well. It will have a round striker on it that corresponds to the latch. That part will be held on with 12 point bolts.

Re: 73-80 hood release

You'll need:
Top core support
Center core support bracket
Hood bracket
Cable
Interior handle and bracket

You will not be able to use 73-74 grilles with an interior hood latch

Yes. It makes it tough to ship that long piece with all the other small parts.

Im using interior hood latch release with 73 gmc grille all you need to do is bend the center core support after that the stock condenser might not fit after bending the center core support how do I know? Im facing this problem now and not interested in putting back the AC

Re: 73-80 hood release

Honestly it is not a hard job as it took me less than an hour to do the swap. Just take off the two supports on either side of the radiator facing the grill as they will pinch the top piece on.
