window felts

I got new to me doors for my suburban. I need to tear the doors apart for paint purposes. What is the best way for me to get the window felts out of the door channels without destroying them? The last set I did the felts were dry rotted and just plain fell apart. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: window felts

Can't tell you but wanted to say you might not be able to without breaking them. The ones on the rear doors on our crew cab are brittle and break just looking at them. New ones were cheap - $18 to do both sides. I think the fronts were as cheap.
